ATSUNOBU KOHIRA

  12.05.2016 - 11.06.2016
Press release
When eyes are closed, flowers dance.

Everything sleeps after the dance, even the sky.

Our ancestors are awake now.

When eyes are open, mirages appear.

Atsunobu Kohira

Time has always determined Kohira’s artwork, in which it decelerates for greater proximity to the velocity of matter, which can be incredibly slow, but never ceases to exist. Matter evolves over hundreds and thousands of years, in cycles intrinsic to its grand metamorphoses. Matter decomposes, regenerates, concentrates, explodes, or transmutes into coal, energy, and carbon dioxide. It changes and transforms. It lives. “The entire ecosystem is of interest to me,” says Atsunobu Kohira.
